Snack container

A small, portioned container sized for a single snack rather than a full meal.

A snack container is a small storage container, usually well under the size of a main meal container, designed to hold a single portion of something like cut fruit, nuts, crackers, or hummus with vegetables. Prepping several of these at once during a weekly session makes grabbing a portioned snack as easy as grabbing a piece of packaged food, without the cost or waste of individually wrapped snacks.

Because snack containers are small, look for ones that are genuinely leak proof if you plan to pack wet items like dip or yogurt, and consider a divided version if you want to keep a dip separate from something you will dip into it, like vegetables or crackers. Stackable, uniform snack containers also fit easily into a lunch bag alongside a larger main container.

A common mistake is using containers so small that a reasonable snack portion barely fits, which leads to either overpacking a container until the lid strains or under-filling it and needing two containers anyway. Testing a container with your actual go-to snack before buying a large multi-pack of the same size avoids that problem.
